


Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Deming met Mozambican Minister of Finance Manuel Still in Maputo in the 13th of this month, the two sides held a meeting on strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
	
Chen Deming said that China and Mozambique in 
recent years continuously developed bilateral economic and trade 
cooperation. In the international financial crisis, bilateral trade 
between China and Mozambique in the first 11 months of last year still 
grew 21.7%. Chinese accumulated direct investment in Mozambique is 
nearly USD 50 million. The 8 acts promised in Sino-Africa Cooperation 
Forum Beijing Summit by Chinese government are fully implemented in 
Mozambique. The cooperation projects like Maputo International Airport 
expansion, agricultural product processing are smoothly carried into 
execution. 
  
 Chen Deming said that China would expand import 
from Mozambique through measures like tariff-free, under the 8 new acts 
frame established in the fourth Ministerial Conference of Sino-Africa 
Cooperation Forum. He said that China will continue to encourage strong 
Chinese enterprises to invest in Mozambique, China supports the 
enhancement of agricultural self-development capacity of Mozambique, the
 use of solar energy, small hydropower and other clean energy sources, 
China will jointly respond to climate change, promote the use of the 
Sino-Africa development fund, special loans for small and medium 
enterprises in Mozambique and increase both sides human resources 
development and cooperation.
 
 Manuel said that for a long time, 
China aided Mozambique unselfishly, played positive role in reducing the
 poverty of Mozambique and in developing the economy of Mozambique. He 
also said that Sino-Africa Cooperation Forum had created favorable 
conditions for further cooperation between China and Mozambique, and 
Mozambique expected to explore more cooperation projects with China and 
also expected Chinese enterprises to invest in Mozambique.
	
 After the meeting, Chen Deming and Manuel 
signed two agreements on economic and technological cooperation on 
behalf of Chinese and Mozambican governments.
